Who saved Liz?

I've been doing some research into the mystery involving Red and night of the fire. The following line of dialogue is from Season 1 "Berlin Conclusion". Liz says to Red, "The only memory I have of my real father is from the night of the fire. I remember him pulling me out of the flames saving me." If Liz shot her father...how was he able to pull her out of the flames and save her?
