Scars

I posted a comment last week regarding the significance of Red's burn scars. Here's the post from last week: " We learned that Red has burns on his back. Liz remembers him being there the night of the fire and Red has confirmed that memory to be true. At this point, it would not be a shock if Liz saw the burn scars on his back. That left me wondering why the burn scars would be such an important aspect of the plot. It may be important because of the location of Red's burn scars. They are on his back. If he were belly down in a burning house he would be burnt on his back and very little on the front depending on the severity of the fire at that point. Does this imply Liz may have shot Red and not her father? I'm leaving Daddygate out of this scenario. Red could still be the person Liz shot even if he is not her father." Sonya Baumgardner commented the following post: " I also noticed in the episode where Red was shot and organized his own field unit, they went to great lengths to keep his back and scars covered up so no one could see ... he had on someone's fuzzy lined coat throughout the episode. This is after Liz remembers him being there the night of the fire ... so why keep it covered for a potentially life-saving surgery? She already knew he was there. There's still quite a few gaps to the story and I'm anxious to see how they are filled."

I gave it some thought and came up with potential reasons Red doesn't want Liz to see the scars. In Season 1, Berlin Conclusion, Liz tells Red..."The only memory I have of my REAL FATHER is from the night of the fire. I remember him pulling me out of the flames saving me."

Could this be why Red doesn't want Liz to discover his scars? Is it possible the scars would confirm to Liz that Red was the person to lead Liz to safety? It is possible that revealing his scars to Liz would confirm that Red risked his life to save Liz, something she seems to clearly remember. Would seeing his scars trip Liz's memory of the night of the fire? Perhaps it would trigger Liz to remember part of that night that Red does not want her to remember. Would seeing scars reveal what role Red played in the events of that night?
