A thing for blondes...

I posted a comment today regarding a particular scene in the BL trailer for season 3. In the scene, Red has an ambiguous reaction to Lizzie's new blonde hair. Some have interpreted this as Red being struck by her beauty, therefore, alluding to the fact that "Lizzington" is alive and well. Of course, I immediately dismissed that notion. I commented that Lizzie's blonde hair could make her look like her mother, thus prompting the reaction from Red. Later this evening I remembered a line from the pilot episode. When Liz is face to face with Red for the first time, Red says,"You got rid of your highlights. You look less Baltimore." Red obviously watched her from afar for most of her life. He noticed that she had highlights and then remarked that they were now gone. Did he like her blonde highlights enough to notice they were gone? When she had the highlights back then, did she remind him of her mother? Does Red have the reaction to her blonde hair because essentially the highlights have returned? Just something to put in context and ponder.
